Stay Prepared: Contact-Range Chaos |
Caught in a scrap so tight you can feel their pulse? If you’re forced to draw your gun at contact range, forget obsessing over that pristine "A-zone" shot.
WAR Zone: Shooting Within Arm’s Reach: Shooting Within Arm’s Reach (WAR)—the messy, heart-pounding reality where one hand’s your lifeline. You’ve got to wield that gun solo, keep the innocents safe, and avoid turning the barrel on yourself. It’s a high-stakes juggling act, and there’s no net.
Specified tasks: Retainable: you must be able to retain the gun
Accountable: simplify-You cant shoot people who are not threats
Predictable: simplify-You cant shoot yourself.
Put it together: you’re in a fight, got one hand shoving forward to keep the threat at bay. Your gun’s lagging backward to prevent them from grabbing it. The muzzle is behind your framing arm. That’s where retention shooting matters, keeping things steady even when you’re getting slammed around. Miss? You might tag a bystander or yourself. Fail to control them? You’re the casualty. A downward angle, anchored to your torso, cuts the risk of collateral damage. Sights are a luxury you won’t get—your shot’s gotta count, predictable as clockwork, every pull of the trigger.

Really excellent class. As a life-long martial artist, it definitely set me back on my heels and made me realize re-evaluate my training priorities. A crucial step in my search for martial truth.
Thank you very much to the fantastic teachers and students. Will definitely take all your classes. More than once.
