Perceived Disrespect |
Disrespect: Reacting physically to disrespect (whether or not it was intentional), shows a struggle with self-control and disrupts civil society. Before higher-order thinking, organized comfort, or abundance was common, hyper-aggressive-territorial behavior was key to survival.
Why? Yelling or lashing out—undermines your credibility. Boisterously screeching at people is a display of ignorance and impulsiveness. Two qualities that when combined with physical force can quickly lead to lasting consequence.
Example: You hear an off-hand comment about your spouse. Your mouth erupts like the after math of taco night, spewing profanity as you approach. You are enraged and push the person who has embarrassed you. But the other party is not interested in a test of strength and brings a weapon to the party. Your lack of composure lead to the situation and now clouds your ability to efficiently fight. Maybe you don't make it home.

Insiders Look at Shivworks |
I typed this week's newsletter mid-april. It was a response to reading comments on social media about FAFO incidents during arguments. Watching people allow arguments to devolve into physical fights makes me extremely frustrated. As someone who was extremely young, dumb and quick to violence, I wish more effort was placed on understanding consequence.

This was by far the best class I’ve ever taken. Everything was taught logically and in small enough increments to remember and utilize the concepts after leaving the venue. |
