Today’s topic: We all enjoy watching a FAFO video. Still, there is a thin line between YOUR force applied due to unavoidable circumstances or YOUR force being applied from your provocation with intent.
Why does it matter? Find yourself standing victorious in the aftermath of an incident covered in the blood of your enemy, and you want to make a claim to self-defense as justification for your action. YOU MUST understand provocation and steer clear of it. If the incident resulted from your FAFO attitude, your affirmative defense might not be an option.
What does it mean? Provocation with intent loosely summarized: action taken by YOU to incite a physical response from another person with the intent of using deadly force against them.

We study video, reports, and case law to help form our opinions. Arguing scenarios and cases is one of the most fun parts of the job. Often there is no clear answer and a case can be made either way.
