Stay Prepared: Draw Smart, Not Fast |
Feel that itch to yank out your weapon in a heartbeat? Pump the brakes—that gut-punch urgency is your cue it’s probably the worst time to draw.
Bad timing: Scroll through the Wild West of the internet, and you’ll view clips of hotshots showing off slick weapon draws in an unopposed “scuffle.” Almost nobody walks you through why or how it works—or doesn’t. What you usually get? A rushed, sloppy move that ends with the bad guy fouling your draw faster than you can blink.
Position vs timing: Why do we say timing vs. position? You’re straddling a downed attacker, their hands flailing like wildcards, and you go for your weapon. Good luck—those paws will claw, grab, and ruin your day unless you’ve got them locked down. Position’s only half the battle; it’s timing that seals the deal. Pin that adversary’s hand nearest the weapon first, then make your move. That’s the idea of IFWA.
Develop timing: Nail your In-Fight Weapon Access (IFWA) by mastering the timing game. Wrestling’s your base—get good at it, and you’ll carve out bigger windows, that stay open for longer, to draw clean. The sharper your mat skills, the more you’ll dictate the rhythm.

Insiders Look at Shivworks |
PA EWO 2025 is in the books, it was not as cold as 2024 thank god. We also did not get robbed in Philly so we should probably get a lottery ticket. Next course is San Francisco hopefully we don't step on any poop.

What others are saying... |

Craig and his crew offer self-defense in a practical, functional format that give you tangible value that you use as soon as you step out of the dojo. Shivworks teaches self-defense compared to martial arts analogous to studying applied physics is to physics. Excellent!
